"Freedom is ..." Mural ProjectACSA Leaders were excited to be a part of the “Friends for FREEDOM” Youth Mural Painting Project, which was hosted on January 23, 2010 by the U.S. Consulate in celebration of its 60th anniversary. The mural project provided youth from around Northern Thailand with a forum to openly and creatively express their ideas about what freedom means. Participating schools & organizations also used their wall as a canvas to highlight the strong & lasting bonds between the U.S. and Northern Thailand. ACSA Leader Chan Ju (Gabriella) Park conceived of the design and led a team of five artists in the installation of the mural. “I wanted to show that freedom is a progressive force that is always changing and always fortunate,” Gabi explained. “It was a really great and fun event, and ACSA hopes to be able to work with the Consulate more in the future.” |
